Contract Security Officer
Description

Position Summary:


This position is located at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City, OK. This position is responsible for access control, identification checks, security equipment monitoring, and roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property amongst other duties.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must provide access service.
  • Must be able to successfully perform identification badge checks with no deficiencies.
  • Must be able to identify weapons/contraband violations and make the proper decision to stop and either detain or deny access with no deficiencies.
  • Must process all employee/vehicle access.
  • Must provide customer service with a friendly and professional attitude.
  • At times, must process all temporary vehicle passes and badges.
  • Must be able to report all security incidents clearly and concisely with their immediate supervisor, reporting to be done both verbally and in writing.
  • Must inform immediate supervisor of any traffic abnormalities and provide effective solutions.
  • Must be able to access multiple computer systems in order to fulfill security officer requirements.
  • Possess the ability to construct and write; clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports.
  • Be proficient in the use and safe handling of a 9MM Caliber service type weapon prior to entry on duty (Armed Security officer Posts Only).


  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to twelve (12) hours per day, either indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime. Outdoor posts may require the CSO to withstand extreme heat, humidity, cold, and/or severe weather (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, hail, wind) for up to four hours without shelter. Many posts have no chair/seating available; thus, the CSO must be able to stand for up to four consecutive hours.
  • Frequent contact with the public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring the ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations (e.g., confrontations with angry, distraught, disturbed, or violent persons).
  • Ability to remain on post up to four consecutive hours without eating, drinking, or receiving comfort breaks.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of alertness for up to twelve (12) hours, with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations.
  • Use of senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch) is necessary to discern unusual or dangerous situations.
  • Ability to use post security equipment (magnetometers, X-rays, CCTV). 
  • Ability to use handcuffs, baton, and firearm at any time while on duty.
  • Ability to read post assignments, write reports, and respond to both routine and emergency dispatches/orders.
  • Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent, disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis situation (e.g., provide emergency First Aid/CPR while waiting for arrival of paramedics or other emergency personnel).
  • Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs (e.g., in responding to emergencies, ensuring timely and complete facility evacuations, giving pursuit, etc.).

WORKING HOURS AND DAYS: This assignment may require the CSO to work any days and

any shift. No guarantee is made for a particular schedule.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required plus any Security/Law Enforcement experience preferred.
  • Must have CLEET Armed Security License 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff and the public.
  • Able to understand and follow standard operating procedures to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance. 
  • Able to investigate incidents and write clear, concise investigative reports as required. 
  • Able to make independent decisions and use sound judgment utilizing the proper policy and procedures. 
  • Able to maintain valid licenses and qualifications required by the contract.
