JOB TITLE: Welding Fabrication Department Lead
JOB SUMMARY
The Welding Fabrication Department Lead is responsible for overseeing all operations within their area and will ideally have 10 years of experience with aluminum sheet metal fabrication and aluminum sheet metal welding. The Welding Fabrication Department Lead is responsible for helping to set up the production process in our mud boats area, training and overseeing the team, and ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and production efficiencies to meet the standards and expectations of internal and external customers. Leads are also morale builders and are responsible for creating a positive work environment for all employees.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- 10 years of MIG and TIG aluminum sheet metal welding experience
- 10 years of aluminum sheet metal fabrication experience
- 3 years of leadership experience training, coaching, and managing a team
- Experience setting up production processes in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Experience operating and programming a press brake
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Forklift certified
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- CAD experience
- Experience troubleshooting a CNC router
- Ability to do very detailed work
- Effectively communication skills
- Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Must be able to work in a team environment
CORE DUTIES
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as press brake machines for fabrication tasks
- Operate MIG and TIG welding equipment to fabricate aluminum sheet metal components
- Must develop, manage, and evaluate fabrication production employees
- Train and cross-train all team members on necessary processes, procedures, and tasks within fabrication
- Monitor production and throughput
- Monitor employee attendance and discipline
- Troubleshoot any issues and assist whenever needed in any area of fabrication from start to finish
- Perform and monitor weld quality and fabrication checks throughout the fabrication process to ensure build specifications are met
- Enforces company policies, safety rules and regulations as well as follow lockout, tag-out (LOTO) procedures
- Coach and assist all employees with problem solving and conflict resolution
HOURS
- 1st shift position
- Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Overtime as needed
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates that accept an offer of employment will be required to pass a background and drug screen. Candidates must also meet ATF requirements for firearm possession.
