SUMMARY:


Vadatech, Inc. is a world leader in the design and manufacturing of embedded computing solutions. Due to continued growth, we are seeking candidates for the position of CNC Machinist. The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating multi-axis CNC equipment—including 3-axis and 5-axis vertical machines, CNC lathes, surface grinders, automatic horizontal saws—as well as performing manual machining operations such as milling, drilling, bead blasting, part washing, and other tasks related to the metal fabrication production process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and orthographic drawings
  • Takes inventory by checking stock to determine the amount available, anticipated stock, and supply inventories, replacement tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.
  • Set up and operate CNC Mills and CNC Lathes: Properly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials from machines.
  • Recognizes, deploys, and properly uses inserts, fixtures, and tooling. Uses gauges and precision measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Operates machines to grind, cut, and finish/polish materials
  • Fabricate, finish, and rework projects using manual tools, including manual mills, drill press, laser cutter, deburr tools, bead blasting, part wash machines, helical inserts, saws, and grinding machines.
  • Verifies set-up and machine settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
  • Support Sheet Metal Fabrication and Powder Coat shop tasks, as needed, such as masking / de-masking parts, insertion of PEMS, sheet deburring, and part inspection.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs and entries into the company ERP system.
  • Updates knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Actively practice a culture of 5S (Sort, Set and Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) in the machine shop.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • 3+ years of experience in multi-axis (3-Axis/5-axis) CNC machining.
  • Experience with precision measuring Instruments - Micrometers, Preset Torque tools, Reference inspection gauges, Dial indicators.
  • Ability to adjust CNC programs for issues and errors.
  • Knowledge of machining techniques and ability to operate manual machines (knee-mill, drill press, saws, deburr equipment, etc.) and CNC machines.

ENVIRONMENT:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor, including, but not limited to, eye, ear, and foot protection.
  • Ability to handle and lift objects weighing at least 25 lbs.
