About Kalos Services We are a multi-trade contractor headquartered in Clermont, Florida, and working throughout Florida and southern Georgia. Kalos operates Electrical, Building Automation, HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Carpentry, Concrete, Structural Steel and Site Work trades often engaged in occupied commercial facility renovation.


Role Overview This paid internship is designed to train foundational construction management skills through meaningful field exposure, providing a clear view of the construction management and project lifecycle. This position moves beyond simple administrative tasks to real-world project support. This role requires significant capabilities in the Google Office Suite, project management and financial tracking software, and proficiency with construction drawings and specifications.


Core Purpose The primary goal of this role is to support the Project Manager (PM) in executing complex commercial renovation projects while learning the operational structure and processes of a General Contractor. This position serves as a potential launchpad for a future career at Kalos, offering a defined path toward Project Management.

 

Compensation  $18.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on level of education and prior construction experience.

This is a temporary internship position and not eligible for company benefits.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Controls Support: Assist the Commercial Construction project team with essential documentation and project controls to prevent administrative lag and timely billing for completed work.
  • Documentation Management: Support the processing and tracking of project submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Change Order Tracking: Assist in proactive change order tracking and field communication to help protect project margins.
  • Compliance & Closeout: Help monitor project compliance and assist in the closeout process.
  • Schedule Support: Provide assistance in maintaining and updating project schedules.

Field vs. Office Expectations

  • This role offers a mix of office-based project management support and meaningful field exposure to understand the realities of occupied retail and renovation work.
  • Summer internships align with our busiest season, offering maximum exposure to active projects.

Advancement Path

  • This role is part of a structured career progression designed to build future Project Managers.
  • Successful interns have a defined opportunity for advancement toward Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager (APM), and Project Manager (PM) roles.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Construction Management or related construction degree program at an accredited college or university. 
  • Temporary internship role, ideally aligned with the summer term (May–August), though flexible scheduling may be considered based on academic calendars. 
  • Demonstrated interest in commercial construction, project management, or general contracting. 
  • Basic familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation is preferred. 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) or similar productivity tools. 
  • Ability to safely work both in an office environment and active construction sites, including occasional field visits. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation. 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening. 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and safely navigate active construction environments when visiting project sites.
