Title: Coordinator of Evangelization and Children’s Ministries

Purpose and Scope:
The Coordinator of Evangelization and Children’s Ministries works in collaboration with, and under the direction of, the Director of Evangelization and Family Ministry to coordinate the catechesis and evangelization of parishioners, with an emphasis on ministries for infant/early childhood and elementary-age children, while assisting with other evangelization programming.

Essential Functions:
Children’s Evangelization
- Coordinates and communicates with catechists, parents, and other volunteers.
- Maintains accurate records for registered students, student volunteers, and catechists
- Ensures timely and accurate preparation is completed including and not limited to updating all forms (online and in print) for each new year, ordering textbooks for each new year, processing, maintaining, and tracking enrollment and attendance of students, preparing deposits of registration fees for Parish Manager
- Coordinates classroom and catechist schedule and ensures classrooms are ready for each catechetical year
- Coordinates the annual Vacation Bible School program, including registration, communication, and coordinating the VBS volunteer team
- Coordinates and supervises parish childcare center to provide childcare needs for various, scheduled parish events.
- Supervises contract babysitters for parish childcare center.
- Serves as a member of the Family Mass and Nights core team
- Assist Director in recruiting and supporting catechists, and ensuring necessary training for catechists
- Assists and supports sacramental preparation of 2nd and 3rd grades for the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation
- Oversees Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program ensuring necessary catechists are trained in appropriate levels of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
- Collaborates with Director on parent meetings and annual retreats for Children and Youth sacrament preparation
- Coordinates liturgical experiences for children including, but not limited to Children’s Liturgy of the Word, Children’s Hospitality ministers, and more
- Coordinates safe environment for children and teens following diocesan SET policies and maintains SET records for catechists and student volunteers
Parish-Office Related
- Support with answering phones, photocopying, bulk mailings, email, data entry as needed.
- Organizes and maintains office supplies and resources for Evangelization Office and Catechist workroom.
- Prepares all Sacrament certificates for evangelization and sacramental preparation programs
- Notifies churches where parishioners were baptized, of Sacraments received (e.g., Confirmation, Holy Communion).
- Develops parish bulletin announcements to parish Bulletin Editor, as needed to promote evangelization programs or recruit volunteers.
- Answer ministry correspondence in a timely manner (emails, letters, telephone calls, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Possesses knowledge of Catholic teaching and practice
- Exercises independent and competent judgment in making decisions relating to job responsibilities
- Possesses effective communication and administrative skills
- Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Possesses excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Maintain standards of confidentiality
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Church-related field
- Active member of a Roman Catholic parish/faith community in good standing with the Church
- Willing and able to support the mission of the Church, the Pastor, and the Diocese of Phoenix
- Weekly work schedule (approx. 40 hours) consists of mostly weekdays, however some weekends and evenings will be required
- Maintains strong relationships with pastor, parish staff, catechists, ministries, and the parish community
Work Environment:
· This job operates in a professional office environment.
· This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
· This is largely a sedentary role; however, some overnight travel may be necessary. Additionally, some filing is required, and this would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
