POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a hands-on IT Technician to provide technical support for our organization's computer systems, hardware, and software. This role is responsible for configuring and maintaining Windows devices, resolving hardware issues, managing software updates, and maintaining our IT equipment inventory. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting end users across the organization. This position offers significant growth opportunities to develop skills in network administration and system administration, with the potential to expand responsibilities as proficiency increases.


Job Description

Device Configuration & Deployment:

  • Configure new Windows desktop and laptop computers for deployment to end users
  • Set up user accounts, permissions, and security settings according to company policies
  • Install and configure standard software applications and tools
  • Ensure all devices meet company security and compliance standards before deployment
  • Image and reimage computers as needed

Hardware Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues including computers, monitors, printers, and peripherals
  • Perform hardware repairs and component replacements
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and vendor support when necessary
  • Test and verify equipment functionality after repairs

Software Management:

  • Deploy software updates, patches, and security fixes across Windows devices
  • Maintain current versions of approved software applications
  • Test software updates before deployment to ensure compatibility
  • Remove and uninstall outdated or unauthorized software
  • Troubleshoot software-related issues and errors

Equipment Management:

  • Physically move IT equipment between locations as needed
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all IT hardware and equipment
  • Track equipment assignments and user allocations
  • Manage equipment lifecycle from procurement through disposal
  • Ensure proper labeling and documentation of all assets
  • Coordinate e-waste disposal and equipment recycling per company policy

User Support:

  • Provide technical assistance to end users via phone, email, or in-person
  • Document support requests and resolutions in ticketing system
  • Train users on hardware and software usage as needed
  • Maintain professional and courteous communication with all users

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in various positions including standing, sitting, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to navigate between different floors and buildings as needed
  • Manual dexterity for handling small components and cables


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment with occasional work in server rooms or equipment closets
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work for system maintenance
  • On-call support rotation may be required (as skills develop)




Requirements

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in IT support or similar technical role
  • Proven experience with Windows 10/11 operating systems

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with PC hardware components, diagnosis, and repair
  • Proficiency with software deployment and patch management
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and user account management
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience with IT asset management and inventory tracking

Desired Skills (For growth opportunities):

  • Exposure to network administration or willingness to learn
  • Basic understanding of Windows Server environments
  • Interest in system administration and infrastructure management
  • Familiarity with virtualization concepts
  • Basic PowerShell or scripting knowledge (or eagerness to develop)

Certifications (Preferred but not required):

  • CompTIA A+
  • Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
  • CompTIA Network+

Future Certification Goals (Company-supported):

  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
