This role requires technical precision, physical stamina, and a commitment to ensuring every new system is installed to factory specifications and local codes while providing a seamless experience for our homeowners.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Decommissioning: Safely remove old equipment, ensuring proper refrigerant recovery and disposal in compliance with EPA regulations.
  • Ductwork & Fabrication: Modify or install ductwork, transitions, and plenums as needed to ensure proper airflow and a professional aesthetic.
  • Electrical & Piping: Connect electrical wiring (high and low voltage), install refrigerant lines, braze joints under nitrogen purge, and install condensate drainage systems.
  • Commissioning: Perform "start-up" procedures on new installs, checking static pressure, sub-cooling/superheat, and temperature splits to ensure the system is operating at peak efficiency.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all installations meet or exceed local, state, and national building codes and safety standards.
  • Customer Orientation: Walk the homeowner through their new system, explaining thermostat operation, filter locations, and maintenance requirements before leaving the job site.
  • Job Site Management: Maintain a clean and organized work area (drop cloths, debris removal) and ensure the company vehicle is stocked with necessary installation materials.
  • Documentation: Complete all installation checklists, photos of the finished job, and commissioning logs using company-provided technology.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of verifiable experience in residential HVAC installation preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in brazing, flared fittings, basic sheet metal work, and low-voltage wiring.
  • Tools: Possession of basic hand tools and specialized installation tools (e.g., manifold gauges, vacuum pump, torches, and drill set).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces (attics and crawlspaces), and labor in various weather conditions.
  • Mobility: Valid state-issued Driver's License and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Required for handling refrigerant).
  • NATE Certification (Installation specialty).
  • Knowledge of proper equipment "sizing" and airflow requirements.
