ABOUT THIS JOB:
The Workplace Design Intern will support the planning and development of an efficient layout for a new building. This role will assist with workplace layout design, space planning, and documentation to help ensure the new facility supports operational efficiency and employee workflow. The intern will gain hands-on experience using industry-standard design tools while collaborating with internal teams to translate operational needs into functional workplace design solutions. This is an in-office internship running from May through August.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with designing and developing workplace layouts for a new building
- Create and update design drawings and models using CAD and Autodesk Revit
- Support space planning initiatives to optimize workflow, productivity, and functionality
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand operational needs and translate them into layout designs
- Maintain organized design files, plans, and documentation
- Participate in planning discussions and design reviews
- Conduct basic research on layout efficiency and workplace design best practices
- Accept and apply feedback given by leadership and project stakeholders
- Follow standard processes and instructions for assigned design tasks
- Manage time effectively while balancing project work and deadlines
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Must have proper documentation for employment in the United States

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field preferred
- Proficiency in CAD and Autodesk Revit required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret design concepts and translate them into technical drawings
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while receiving direction and feedback
- Basic understanding of workplace design, space planning, or building layout concepts preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR:
- Previous experience with workplace design, architectural planning, or building layout projects
- Coursework or internship experience related to architecture, construction management, or facilities planning
THIS POSITION REPORTS TO:
- Chief Operations Officer
SCHEDULE:
- Monday-Friday, flexible hours based on student availability within 9am–5pm, with a minimum of 15 hours per week
WORK SPACE INFO:
This job operates in a warehouse environment which requires standing, moving, lifting, and operating machinery and computers. Personal Protection Equipment may be required. Safety training is mandatory and employees must be able to pass basic safety requirements.
TRAINING:
Training for this position will be completed by the department manager. Training will consist of education on key processes, preparation and staging requirements by customer, location of tools, supplies and materials. You will be trained on how to use the order interface, how to properly read orders and where to look for notes. Additional training will be completed as processes evolve or as required.
