Staff Accountant
Description

Job Purpose

The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Finance department and assisting with various accounting functions. This role involves assisting in filing, audits of financial records, record-keeping, and compliance with financial regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities

Primary job duties and responsibilities:

  • Administrative duties such as email, filing, scanning, and organizing.
  • Accounts Payable duties including but not limited to processing invoices, accounts, resolving discrepancies, data entry, coding, weekly check runs, and reporting.
  • Accounts Receivable (customer billing).
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare year-end 1099 and 1096 filings.
  • Support the Finance department through any audits and ensure compliance of records.
  • Support other employees throughout any finance-related processes.
  • Assists with special projects and initiatives as assigned by Finance leadership.
  • Perform financial reporting and analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain reports that provide insight into budget performance, school-level spending, and expense activity.
  • Assist in analyzing variances between budgeted and actual results to support financial planning and decision-making.

  • Experience in AP/AR.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations, compliance and reporting standards.

  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding conversations overheard either in person or on the phone, in files, reports, emails, or other documents viewed.
  • Strong attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Education Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Experience Preferred: 2 years in a financial administrative role.
