What You’ll Do

  • Create a safe, warm, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Provide nurturing, responsive, and individualized care
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences
  • Support children’s sensory, motor, language, and social-emotional development
  • Observe and document developmental milestones
  • Build strong partnerships with families
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every child
  • Maintain compliance with California Title 22 regulations and program policies

Required Qualifications

  • ECE units required under California Title 22 (must meet teacher qualifications)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid California Teaching Permit (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach with a passion for early childhood development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a preschool classroom setting
  • Knowledge of DRDP implementation
  • Familiarity with the Environment Rating Scale (ERS)

Child Development & Classroom Practices

  • Build secure, responsive relationships with children
  • Implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum
  • Support all areas of early development
  • Maintain consistent routines while adapting to individual needs
  • Conduct observations and complete developmental assessments (DRDP as applicable)

Health, Safety & Supervision

  • Maintain active supervision at all times
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized classroom
  • Follow health and sanitation procedures
  • Respond to children’s physical and emotional needs
  • Follow licensing regulations and emergency procedures

Family Partnerships

  • Communicate daily with families
  • Support family goals and cultural practices
  • Participate in conferences and program events

Professional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members and leadership
  • Attend meetings and professional development sessions
  • Maintain documentation and records
  • Uphold confidentiality and professional standards

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry children up to 40 pounds
  • Sit on the floor and engage in play for extended periods
  • Bend, kneel, squat, and reach frequently
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Safely lift children in and out of cribs and changing areas
  • Push strollers or evacuation equipment as needed
  • Perform diapering/toileting routines
  • Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision
  • Respond quickly in emergencies
  • Perform classroom cleaning and sanitizing duties
