California Faucets is looking to bring on a talented Product Design Engineer. This role is based onsite in our Huntington Beach, CA manufacturing facility. The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, full-time from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Job Description/Essential Duties:

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for the following areas of responsibility:


CAD Design

  • Use CAD system to design 3D detailed components
  • Create multi-level 3D assemblies
  • Generate component and assembly drawings
  • Use personal background/knowledge to contribute to product development

Engineering Evaluation/Research

  • Perform first article inspection/evaluation of newly sourced product(s)
  • Perform physical functional testing of product(s) in test & assembly areas
  • Research or test material strengths, behaviors, physical properties, etc.

Maintain Product Specifications

  • Use CAD system to perform changes and/or updates to product specifications sheets
  • Distribute product specifications to various departments within organization  

Bill of Materials (BOM)

  • Enter and maintain master BOM/Assembly drawings for all company products
  • Verify that BOMs in MRP system are identical to master drawings
  • Verify that part numbering is consistent throughout all BOMs

Technical Writing

  • Assist in creating Installation Instructions
  • Update existing Installation Instruction to incorporate engineering changes

Additional Duties

  • Make impactful decisions that enhance business production and productivity
  • Use sound judgment to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Contribute to key strategic and tactical decisions to improve quality, safety, and productivity
  • Complete additional tasks as directed by management

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD software, highly preferred.
  • Experience with machined, forged, cast, injection, and stamped parts, preferred
  • Knowledge of basic drafting principles and concepts
  • Knowledge of creating multi-level assembly models/drawings
  • Knowledge of various metal manufacturing processes
  • Ability to use various engineering tools (e.g. calipers, thread gauges, etc.)
  • Experience working in plumbing or fluid delivery fields is a plus
  • Experience working with machinery equipment (e.g. lathe, mill, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems is a plus
  • Experience working with AutoCAD is a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 


People Interface:

The position requires contact primarily within the department on routine matters as well as contact with various levels of Operations, Quality Control, and Customer Service. In addition to internal, there is direct correspondence/communication with vendors and suppliers.


Decision Making:

The position requires working from detailed instructions as well as the use of judgment to plan and perform general decisions to solve a problem or select a course of action for a standard or recognized method of operation.
