OCH Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Principal Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team supporting the FAA. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing and supporting Oracle database environments in production settings. This role calls for extensive expertise in performance tuning, high availability configurations, backup and recovery strategies, security hardening, and database lifecycle management.

Hybrid: WJTHC – FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center – Egg Harbor Township, NJ OR
LBK - FAA Lambs Knoll – Boonsboro, MD 

 

Core Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Install, Configure, Patch, and upgrade Oracle Database Environments (19c and newer Versions) 
  • Manage and support development, test, UAT, and production database environments 
  • Design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Data Guard, RAC) 
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies using RMAN 
  • Implement and maintain database security controls including encryption (TDE), auditing, and role-based access 
  • Monitor database performance, capacity and availability using enterprise monitoring tools.  
  • Create and maintain documentation including architecture diagrams, SOPs, and runbooks. 
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed 
  • Preform database performance tuning and optimization 
  • Support (24x7) production systems 

Responsibilities may evolve over time to support team and organizational goals, but will remain consistent with the overall scope of the role. 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 


Education: 

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Math, Engineering, or related field 


Experience: 

  • A minimum of eight (8) + years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, including five (5) + years in a senior or lead role 
  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle Database 19c and newer versions 
  • Experience with Oracle database technologies including RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN 
  • Experience supporting Linux/Unix operating systems 
  • Strong understanding of database security best practices 
  • Experience with database patching, cloning, and migrations 

Security Clearance Requirement 

Candidates must possess an active Secret security clearance 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) 
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Ansible, Git) 
  • Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) 
  • Knowledge of other databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) 
  • Experience in Government or regulated environments
