SUMMARY:  The EHR System Analyst (Training Specialist) is primarily responsible for leading Epic/EMR training, onboarding, and ongoing staff development to ensure successful adoption and effective use of the EHR across the organization. This role focuses on teaching, curriculum design, workflow education, and building staff competency, while also supporting basic system configuration, testing, and optimization activities. The Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that clinical staff understand workflows, utilize Epic tools effectively, and remain confident and engaged users of the EHR.

Training & Education (Primary)

  • Lead all Epic/EMR training for clinical staff, including comprehensive onboarding for new hires.
  • Design, deliver, and continuously refine role-based training programs that support clinical workflows and organizational objectives.
  • Develop engaging training materials—such as job aids, videos, workflow guides, and quick-reference tools—tailored to adult learning styles.
  • Conduct competency assessments (e.g., shadowing, skills checks, interviews, surveys) to identify knowledge gaps and training needs.
  • Provide ongoing education for existing staff, including refresher courses, optimization sessions, and targeted coaching.

Workflow Support & Optimization

  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to understand workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure training aligns with best practices.
  • Translate workflow requirements into clear, accessible training that enhances user adoption and minimizes errors.
  • Support rollout of Epic updates and new features by preparing staff through training, communication, and updated documentation.

System Support (Secondary)

  • Assist with system configuration, testing, and validation of Epic enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation for workflows, training tools, and system updates.
  • Provide on-site support at clinical locations, including floor support during go-lives and after major upgrades.
Requirements

  Required Skills and Abilities    

  • Demonstrated experience teaching, training, coaching, or facilitating learning for adult learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and support a diverse workforce.  
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to independently manage training schedules and deadlines.
  • Strong presentation and public-speaking skills; able to teach in both classroom and 1:1 formats.
  • Ability to analyze workflows and communicate them clearly through documentation and training materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and demonstrated ability to create high quality training materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of professionalism

Preferred:  

  • Prior Epic experience or Epic credentialing/certification.
  • Experience developing educational materials (e-learning, videos, guides, or structured curricula).
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methods, and training delivery strategies.
  • Experience conducting needs assessments, competency evaluations, or workflow observations.
