Oyster Loft in Pismo Beach is a full-service, elevated coastal restaurant focused on quality ingredients, thoughtful execution, and a consistent guest experience. We are looking for reliable and motivated cooks who take pride in their work and can contribute to a high-performing kitchen team.


This role combines both prep and line responsibilities, with a focus on consistency, organization, and execution. Ideal candidates are comfortable working across stations, preparing ingredients, and executing dishes during service in a fast-paced environment.


We provide full coverage for required Food Handler certification. Training time and certification costs are covered in accordance with company policy and California requirements.


Responsibilities


Prepare ingredients for service including chopping, portioning, and basic food preparation

Follow recipes and prep lists to ensure consistency and accuracy

Set up and maintain organized workstations with all necessary ingredients and equipment

Cook menu items using a variety of methods including sautéing, grilling, and baking

Monitor food during preparation to ensure proper timing, temperature, and quality

Plate and present dishes according to restaurant standards

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen

Properly store, label, and rotate food items in accordance with food safety guidelines

Assist with inventory, stocking, and notifying management of shortages

Support team members across stations to maintain efficient service

Help maintain a clean, organized, and high-functioning kitchen environment

Requirements

Previous kitchen experience preferred (prep, line, or similar role)

Experience using knives, cooking equipment, and kitchen tools safely

Knowledge of basic cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing, and baking

Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately

Strong attention to detail and consistency

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Strong communication and time management skills

Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Must obtain and maintain a valid California Food Handler Certification

Salary Description
$20-$25 per hour
