Job Summary


The Director of Activities is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing engaging recreational programs that promote residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being. This role oversees activity staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports individualized resident care plans.


Key Responsibilities

  •  Develop and coordinate a monthly calendar of activities, events, and wellness programs for residents of varying functional levels.
  •  Lead and support group activities, ensuring safe and inclusive participation.
  •  Supervise, train, and support activity staff, volunteers, and instructors.
  •  Complete MDS assessments, documentation, and participate in care planning and conferences.
  •  Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address resident needs and preferences.
  •  Manage activity budgets, supplies, and recreational spaces.
  •  Promote resident participation through communication with residents and families.
  •  Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and resident rights standards.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field (or equivalent experience).
  •  Minimum 3 years of experience in activities or healthcare preferred.
  •  Experience coordinating group activities required.
  •  Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  •  CPR certification required; CTRS preferred.
  •  Valid driver’s license required.
  •  Knowledge of long-term care regulations and MDS preferred.

Physical Requirements

  •  Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  •  Ability to assist with on-site and off-site activities.
  •  Ability to use computers and activity equipment as needed.
