Position Summary

A clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment is an important part of the resident experience. The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of resident apartments, common areas, and other assigned spaces throughout the community. This role helps create an environment where residents feel comfortable, respected, and proud to call home.


We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to the details, and understands the importance of providing a high standard of cleanliness and service in a senior living community.


Essential Job Duties

  • Clean and maintain resident apartments, bathrooms, hallways, common areas, offices, and other assigned areas.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and emptying waste containers.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, and other designated areas according to established standards and procedures.
  • Safely use cleaning products, chemicals, supplies, and housekeeping equipment according to established procedures.
  • Maintain housekeeping equipment and supplies in proper condition and report damaged or unsafe equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Operate laundry equipment and assist with resident or community laundry services as assigned.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked housekeeping and supply areas.
  • Respect resident privacy, personal belongings, and living spaces while performing assigned duties.
  • Provide courteous and respectful service when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, spills, damage, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with cleaning and preparation for resident events, activities, and community functions as needed.
  • Complete assigned work according to established schedules and priorities.
  • Follow infection control, sanitation, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
  • Complete required company, community, and state-specific training.
  • Follow all company policies, community procedures, safety requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous  housekeeping, environmental services, hospitality, healthcare, senior living, or related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard housekeeping practices, cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established cleaning procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and leadership.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • First Aid, CPR, or other certifications may be required based on community or applicable regulatory requirements.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Moderate to heavy physical activity may be required throughout the workday.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, squat, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to safely operate standard housekeeping and cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to safely handle cleaning products and chemicals in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as required to perform assigned duties.
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, odors, dust, and varying temperatures while performing housekeeping duties.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings, or other shifts based on community needs.
