Overview 


We are seeking a Safety Manager who demonstrates strong communication, sound judgment, and a commitment to maintaining safe and compliant job sites. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs across all construction activities while partnering closely with project teams to promote a culture of safety and accountability.

Responsibilities


Safety Program Development:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies tailored to construction activities in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards. 
  • Conduct audits and inspections to verify compliance with safety policies.
  • Ensure all projects meet company, client, and regulatory safety requirements, including OSHA standards.

Training & Education:

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and site personnel. 
  • Educate teams on hazard identification, proper equipment use, and emergency response procedures.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Mitigation:

  • Conduct site assessments to identify potential hazards and risks. 
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to mitigate risks and improve safety performance.

Incident Investigation:

  • Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, or near-misses, documenting findings and recommending preventive measures. 
  • Maintain detailed records of incidents and report findings to management and regulatory agencies as required.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure safety measures are integrated into all project phases.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related issues and emergency response coordination.
  • Reinforce accountability by addressing non-compliance, including issuing safety warnings, stop-work actions, and escalation as necessary.

Safety Reporting:

  • Prepare and present safety reports, metrics, and analyses to management.
  • Monitor and track safety performance trends, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of safety experience within the construction industry, with direct field exposure.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent certification preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required; OSHA 500 preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
  • Experience supporting commercial or industrial construction projects preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and construction safety best practices.
  • Ability to identify hazards, conduct Job Hazard Analyses, and implement effective control measures.
  • Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, train, engage, and lead field crews at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and enforcing safety expectations on active job sites.
  • Proficiency in construction and safety management platforms (e.g., RedTeam, Procore, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in field environments, to include subcontractors.

  • Frequent walking and standing on active and inactive construction sites, including uneven terrain, gravel, and partially completed structures.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated or multi-level work areas as needed.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to inspect work areas, equipment, and site conditions.
  • Regular use of hands and fine motor skills for tasks such as typing, operating mobile devices, and completing documentation.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, and appropriate footwear, for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as required, including driving and extended periods of time in transit.
  • Ability to observe and assess site conditions, recognize hazards, and respond to visual and auditory signals.

Important Details:


This role requires frequent travel to active and inactive job sites, typically 3–4 days per week. Site visits are expected to support ongoing safety monitoring, audits, and team engagement. Additional travel may be required based on project needs, incident response, or company safety initiatives.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


The Safety Manager leads and develops safety team members, ensuring consistent implementation of safety programs, proactive risk management, and compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards across all assigned projects.

Salary Description
$90,000.00
