Position Focus: The Regional Director of Ministry Partnerships is a critical Major Gifts role responsible for leading all aspects of major donor engagement. The focus is split between managing the full gift cycle (qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding) for a portfolio of major donors ($5,000+ annual giving) in an assigned territory (70%) and strategically partnering with the President and CEO to cultivate and secure significant donations from the CEO’s list (30%). The Director must successfully execute move management plans for both groups to secure investments in Care Net’s mission
- Managing the qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding of a portfolio of current major donors ($5,000+ annual giving) and a pipeline of prospective individual major donors, in a specified territory assigned by the VP of Ministry Partnerships. (70%)
- Creates an individual moves management plan for each current and prospective major donor, mapping out (a) goals for increasing the engagement of assigned donors based on knowledge and research, (b) cultivation activities, (c) solicitation strategy and timeline for annual campaign, comprehensive campaign asks, and/or planned giving asks, and (d) appropriate Care Net staff or board members to engage in cultivation and solicitation efforts.
- Executes moves management plan.
- Participates in meetings with current and prospective individual donors aimed at gaining an understanding of each donor’s philanthropic interests and capacity, exploring alignment with Care Net’s mission and vision, inviting them to participate in Care Net’s mission in a way that is meaningful to them, confirming the correct level of giving to request, determining the appropriate timing for an ask or making an ask.
- Prepares plans and proposals for meetings and requests participation of the VP of Ministry Partnerships, the President/CEO, and/or other staff or board members as needed. Completes Call Reports and updates to donor records on a timely basis.
- Collaborates with the Ministry Partnerships Assistant and other team members to ensure all aspects of the annual Communications Plan for assigned donors are completed on time and with excellence (i.e., donor receipts, touch emails, annual appeals and tax statements, Christmas cards, prayer cards, etc).
- Collaborates with the Foundations Team to visit current and prospective foundation partners in the Regional Director’s assigned territory to help advance foundation relationships and funding opportunities.
- Invites current or prospective donors to host Ministry Briefings to introduce Care Net to their sphere of influence and work with team members to execute Ministry Briefings.
2. Working with the President and CEO to cultivate and secure significant donations from the CEO’s list. (30%)
- Works with CEO to create an individual moves management plan for each current and prospective major donor on the CEO’s list, mapping out (a) goals for increasing the engagement of assigned donors based on knowledge and research, (b) cultivation activities, (c) solicitation strategy and timeline for annual campaign, comprehensive campaign asks, and/or planned giving asks, and (d) appropriate Care Net staff or board members to engage in cultivation and solicitation efforts.
- Assist with the execution of the moves management plan.
Serves as the secondary point of contact (internally the primary) for selected donors and prospective donors on the CEO’s list, working in tandem with the CEO, when appropriate, and his Executive Assistant to strategically leverage the CEO’s time, gifts, and relationships with donors to cultivate deeper relationships and engagement.
- Supports the CEO in preparing for meetings, as needed: Does wealth research, creates prep sheets with background info and proposed agenda and timeline for the meeting, prepares proposals when appropriate, and works with the CEO’s Executive Assistant to book meetings.
- Supports the CEO in executing meetings (attending when deemed necessary) aimed at gaining an understanding of each donor’s philanthropic interests and capacity, exploring alignment with Care Net’s mission and vision, inviting them to participate in Care Net’s mission in a way that is meaningful to them, confirming the correct level of giving to request, determining the appropriate timing for an ask…or making an ask.
- Assists in tracking and reports on progress of cultivation and solicitation efforts, ensuring timely updates and actions.
Travel & Other
- Travels up to 25% of the time (slightly more or less depending on the time of year) to meet with assigned donors and prospective donors, accompany the CEO to meetings with donors on his list (as needed), participate in the Care Net National Conference and other events, trainings, speaking engagements, and other activities.
- Attends and participates in the leadership of daily staff devotions and regular prayer.
- Attends and participates in individual bi-weekly meetings with the CEO and team bi-weekly with the MD&F Team, as well as other fundraising-related meetings.
Requirements
Faith

Fundraising
- At least 2 years of direct experience in major gifts fundraising is strongly preferred with proven success in asking for and closing major gifts of $10,000 or more and building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents such as individual donors and foundations.
- Successful experience in all aspects of the gift cycle: (1) initiating contact with potential and current donors; (2) developing appropriate cultivation strategies; (3) moving potential and current donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; (4) making solicitations; and (5) stewarding relationships with donors.
- Ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and alter strategic advancement plans and articulate the case for support so that individual donors understand and make an investment in the vision, mission, and strategic initiatives of Care Net.
- Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving.

- Computer literate with particular expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets.
- Bachelor’s degree and five or more years’ work experience
