Career Opportunity- Global Commodity Manager- Passives, Discretes, MRO & Indirect Spend 

Reports to- Global Sourcing Director

Job Location- This is a remote based position. Must be able to travel to site locations as needed, up to 25%.

The primary role of this position is to develop and execute short- and long-term commodity strategies, supplier management, and contract negotiations for Passive Components (Resistors, Capacitors, Magnetics), Discrete Semiconductors (Diodes, Transistors, Power Devices), and MRO & Indirect Spend categories.


This role supports new product introductions (NPI), production continuity, and cost competitiveness by building a resilient global supply base and leveraging strategic supplier and distributor relationships. The Global Commodity Leader ensures optimal performance across quality, delivery, cost, and supply assurance while aligning with business unit and customer requirements.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute global commodity strategies for: 
    • Passives (Resistors, MLCCs, Tantalum Capacitors, Inductors, Magnetics) 
    • Discretes (Diodes, Transistors, Power Devices) 
    • MRO & Indirect Spend (consumables, tooling, factory supplies, services) 
  • Support global quoting teams during NPI and RFQ phases, optimizing sourcing strategies for cost, lead time, and availability. 
  • Establish and manage strategic relationships with OEMs, authorized distributors, and channel partners to ensure supply continuity and market competitiveness. 
  • Lead supplier and distributor negotiations, including pricing agreements, rebate programs, allocation strategies, and long-term supply agreements (LTAs). 
  • Drive global leverage and standardization, consolidating spend across sites and aligning to preferred suppliers and distribution channels. 
  • Partner cross-functionally with Site Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Operations to align sourcing strategies and resolve constraints. 
  • Manage supplier and distributor performance, including scorecards, QBRs, and corrective actions for quality, delivery, and responsiveness. 
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives, including: 
    • Alternate sourcing and cross-referencing 
    • Standardization and value engineering 
    • Volume leverage and contract optimization 
  • Monitor and manage market conditions and supply risks, including: 
    • Allocation environments and lifecycle constraints (EOL, NRND) 
    • Commodity price volatility (e.g., metals, semiconductors) 
    • Global supply-demand imbalances 
  • Develop and execute inventory strategies, including safety stock positioning, buffer strategies, and last-time buys. 
  • Lead supplier transitions and resourcing initiatives, ensuring minimal disruption to production and customer commitments. 
  • Utilize procurement tools, market intelligence platforms, and analytics to support data-driven sourcing decisions. 

Organizational Alignment

  • This position is part of the Global Supply Chain / Sourcing organization. 
  • Works in a remote or hybrid environment within the United States. 
  • Supports multiple sites and customer programs globally.      

Other Responsibilities

  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives across sourcing, procurement, and supply chain processes.      
  • Support customer escalations and recovery efforts related to material shortages and allocation constraints. 
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Safety

  • Ensure all assignments are performed in compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Company safety regulations.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of experience in global sourcing or supply chain within EMS or electronics manufacturing. 
  • Strong expertise in: 
    • Passive components and/or discrete semiconductors 
    • Distributor networks and channel strategies 
    • MRO and indirect procurement practices 
  • Proven track record of supplier/distributor negotiations, contract development, and cost reduction execution. 
  • Strong understanding of: 
    • Allocation management and lifecycle risk (EOL/NRND) 
    • Commodity market trends and pricing drivers 
    • Inventory strategies for long-lead and constrained components 
  • Experience supporting NPI / RFQ environments and design-to-cost initiatives. 
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data-driven analysis. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field. 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally. 
  • Valid passport required. 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Aerospace & Defense supply chains (AS9100, ITAR considerations). 
  • Familiarity with authorized vs. independent distribution channels and risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Experience with EMS quoting tools (e.g., CalcuQuote) and ERP systems (e.g., D365, AX). 
  • Experience managing high-mix, high-variability component environments.

This position is remote and based in the United States. Candidates must reside in the United States.

Compensation- This Exempt role is a salaried position with a range of $110,000-$120,000/annually. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as geographic location, education, years of relevant experience, certifications, and specific expertise sourcing in the electronics manufacturing industry.
