Summary: The Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a motivated and passionate Intern to support the Archives and Records Management Office with grant supported project. The intern will be responsible for building the foundation for an interactive history online using either StoryMapsJS/TimelineJS software with stories, sound recordings and imagery. The intern will research and draft each story, design the layout of the software, and prepare digital content. The Archives staff will offer guidance in searching collections for necessary stories and information and train them on digitization and cataloging of materials. The interns will also contribute to the processing manual on the project to continue the growth of the online presence.
The Intern will gain exposure to a variety of organizational functions and segments, including best practices and specific hands-on industry knowledge. Supervision, routine feedback, and evaluation will be provided by an experienced professional in the desired field. Resources, equipment, and facilities will be provided by the Archdiocese of San Antonio that will support the intern’s learning objectives and goals.
This position is grant funded and is subject to change, and may be impacted by external factors.
Position Responsibilities:
- Research established and new historical stories to build a timeline with the history of Archdiocese of San Antonio.
- Write historical anecdotes to accompany photographs on the timeline.
- Establish the design and format of the online software.
- Digitize, catalog, and upload images for related online exhibits.
- Contribute to a processing manual for updating the software.
- The intern will operate under the supervision and mentoring of an Archdiocesan professional.
- Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
- Every intern is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Related college education degree or credits in history, computer science, library science with concentration in archives; museum studies
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
- Must have good written and verbal skills;
- Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
