PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Centro San Juan Diego facility (exterior and interior). This includes but is not limited to keeping the building clean and in orderly condition; cleaning snow or debris from the sidewalk as needed, and mowing and trimming lawns and shrubbery on the grounds. Some specific tasks include cleaning floors, vacuuming rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Also, performs routine minor maintenance activities, including changing lightbulbs and batteries, and notifying management of the need for major repairs. This includes occasional driving to pick up cleaning supplies and/or materials, dropping off/picking up dry cleaning. This person will set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare the facility for events, meetings, and activities. It may involve some heavy lifting and the use of machines and certain equipment. This person helps monitor the building's security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- In charge of the general cleaning and upkeep, minor maintenance of CSJD facility, both interior and exterior.
- Trash removal, including recycling bins.
- Cleaning, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming throughout the building, including the kitchen, classrooms, offices, stage area, basement, and restrooms.
- Heavy lifting, on occasion, including tables and chairs.
- Painting on occasion, especially in the upkeep of the facility.
- Minor repairs as needed.
- Closing the facility and ensuring the setting of an alarm when needed.
- Report any damage, need for repair, etc., to management immediately.
- Ground maintenance, including mowing the lawn, cutting shrubs, pruning trees, snow removal, and washing down sidewalks and stairs as needed.
- Assist in the organization and set up for some meetings for staff and other special events.
- Bilingual is preferred (Spanish and English).
- Knowledge of cleaning solutions and how to maintain different materials, including hardwood floors, plastics, stainless steel, appliances, etc.
- Required basic knowledge of some Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Teams) and Zoom.
- Ability to multitask and work independently.
- Demonstrate commitment and professional standards.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of related job experience in the related field;
- Relevant maintenance experience;
- High School diploma/GED is preferred but not required.
