Accounting Intern

As an Accounting Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in a mission-driven organization while supporting critical financial operations that help us serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


In this role, you will work closely with our Finance team and gain exposure to real-world accounting processes. The internship is designed to give you practical experience while building foundational accounting skills in a supportive environment.


SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

  • In office/On-site position.
  • Hours will mainly be
  • Must be available for a 15-week work-study internship during the spring.
  • Salary $20.50/hr (hourly/non-exempt)

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Assist with data entry, financial recordkeeping, and invoice processing.
  • Support monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Record client payments and maintain accurate billing records.
  • Help research and resolve credit card transaction issues.
  • Assist with audit preparation and documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members on various accounting and administrative tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING:

Education:

  • Must be a current student pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, etc.) or have relevant coursework/experience.

Skill Sets:

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize the needs of the agency.
  • Reliable transportation to the office.
  • A proactive team-oriented mindset and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.
  • A commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
  • Ability to attend team and agency meetings as required by the position.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • · The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to assist others, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • · The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • · The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations.
  • · Consistently position self to maintain files in cabinets or assist team members.
  • · Ability to work in a shared multi-task, multi-person business office.
