IT Intern – In-Person/Hybrid
Description

About the role

We’re looking for an IT Intern to support our internal IT team with day-to-day user support and hands-on technology tasks. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s curious, coachable, and enjoys helping people—while gaining real experience in a professional environment across end-user support, Microsoft 365, device setup, and IT operations.

What you’ll do

  • Provide friendly, front-line IT support to employees (in person and/or via phone, Teams, or email)
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding tasks (account setup, access requests, basic configuration)
  • Help set up and deploy devices (laptops/desktops, monitors, peripherals, and mobile devices as needed)
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint) with basic troubleshooting and user guidance
  • Document common fixes and create simple “how-to” guides to help users self-serve
  • Help with IT inventory and asset tracking (devices, accessories, and replacements)
  • Escalate issues appropriately and work alongside the team to learn troubleshooting best practices
  • Participate in small projects as time allows (process improvements, cleanup, organizing, light automation, etc.)

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an IT-related program (IT, CIS, MIS, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, etc.)
  • Strong customer service mindset and communication skills (you enjoy helping people and explaining things clearly)
  • Comfortable learning new tools and asking questions
  • Basic familiarity with Windows and common business applications (especially Microsoft 365)
  • Reliable, organized, and able to handle tasks with attention to detail

Nice to have (not required)

  • Prior help desk, retail tech, or customer support experience
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems, basic networking concepts, or device management tools
  • Interest in cybersecurity, systems administration, or cloud services

Schedule / hours

  • Target: 32 hours/week during summer with potential to stay on during school or after internship ends.
  • Start/end dates: Flexible based on school schedule

Work location

  • In-person at our Oshkosh or Appleton offices with potential for hybrid after onboarding/training.

Reporting structure

  • Reports to: IT Manager
  • Works closely with: IT Support Team

What you’ll gain

  • Real-world IT experience in a professional environment
  • Mentorship and training from an experienced IT team
  • Exposure to modern workplace tools (Microsoft 365, collaboration platforms, endpoint support)
  • Opportunities to build practical troubleshooting, documentation, and customer support skills
