About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Receiver to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring efficient unloading of incoming materials, and supporting overall warehouse operations.
You will operate a forklift, manage incoming shipments, and help lead daily receiving activities to keep product flowing safely and accurately.

What You’ll Do
- Safely operate a forklift to unload incoming lumber, building materials, and hardware
- Inspect, count, and accurately receive products into inventory
- Match purchase orders (POs) with vendor bills of lading (BOLs) and receiving documentation
- Use Bistrack to track, enter, and manage inventory
- Supervise and support receiving team members, delegate tasks, and ensure completion of daily work
- Organize and put away materials in designated storage areas and pallet racking
- Process returns and credits from delivery trucks, including inspecting quality and documenting discrepancies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and warehouse environment
- Communicate with the purchasing team to resolve discrepancies and identify issues
- Receive and verify transfers between Koopman Lumber locations
- Perform cycle counts and rotate inventory to maintain product quality

What You Bring
- Forklift experience, preferably in lumber or building materials
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with paperwork and inventory systems
- Ability to read and understand purchase orders, bills of lading, and receiving documents
- Comfortable using computers and inventory systems (Bistrack experience a plus)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and lead by example
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a distribution center or lumber yard environment
- Previous experience supervising or leading a small team
- Familiarity with building materials and hardware products
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain)
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing in and out of equipment
- Operation of forklifts and material handling equipment throughout the day
