What You Will DO
Ensuring that clients' needs are met, dealing with complaints, finding solutions to problems, serving as a liaison between clients and healthcare providers. Manages all operations of Pawnee’s billing and admissions services and acts as the point of contact for inquiries.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate collection reports to assess the effectiveness of current procedures; recommend policy revisions as needed to enhance efficiency.
2. Audit delinquent accounts to confirm all collection efforts have been exhausted prior to recommending bad credit status.
3. Collaborate with Admissions and Client Account Representatives to ensure timely and accurate processing of Private Health Information (PHI).
4. Review and authorize account adjustments in compliance with organizational policies.
5. Oversee insurance authorization procedures related to Mental Health, Substance Use services, and Primary Care.
6. Monitor aged account metrics and implement appropriate follow-up actions to improve receivables.
7. Hire, supervise, and evaluate qualified staff; ensure proper training, monitor performance, document concerns, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
8. Generate billing and agency reports upon request from the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
9. Collaborate with clinical teams to establish procedures that enhance billing accuracy and optimize revenue.
10. Maintain up-to-date provider data in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and other relevant platforms.
11. Oversee audits of health plan directories to ensure accurate and current provider information.
12. Participate in committees and work groups as assigned.
13. Stay current in the field through ongoing review of relevant materials and participation in approved training opportunities.
14. Coordinate with Program Supervisors to review caseloads and outstanding client balances.
15. Respond to EHR support requests; troubleshoot issues and escalate complex problems to IT contractors or the EHR vendor.
16. Assist with software updates and their implementation.
17. Collaborate with staff and IT contractors to ensure technological support for new and ongoing initiatives; coordinate EHR vendor work orders.
18. Assist with the submission of data in the Automated Information Management System (AIMS) in compliance with State of Kansas requirements.
19. Manage updates to the EHR database as needed, including maintaining the matrix.
20. Chair the EHR Development Team and contribute to other committees and workgroups as assigned.
21. Comply with PMHS policies, procedures, and applicable professional ethical standards.
22. Adhere to the Pawnee Code of Conduct as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years’ experience with medical billing and coding or related medical administrative experience.
- Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Significant knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field.
- 1+ years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of SQL.
