Tech Writer
Description

Job Purpose:

The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, revising, and maintaining company manuals, forms, and technical documentation in compliance with FAA regulations and 21 Air standards.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Plan, develop, organize, and write internal company procedures, forms, and manuals.
  •  Contribute to maintaining a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation.
  •  Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content. 
  •  Manage revision projects for technical documentation.
  •  Must be able to work on complex documentation tasks with limited assistance. 
  •  Promote and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Technical Publications department, including procedures, quality control, workflow, and tools.
  • Demonstrate expertise in technical documentation methods and procedures in a positive manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Publications Supervisor.



Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  •  Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Windows environments, Internet browser)
  •  Strong communication skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  •  Must have excellent oral, written, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  •  Must be a team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
  •  Must be available for overtime and/or to work a flexible schedule, as job requirements dictate.


Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a technical writer.
  •  Thorough knowledge of the ATA iSpec 2200 format.
  •  Thorough knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 119 and 121 FAA regulations, specifications, and related requirements. 


Physical Requirements:

  • Light work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  •  Ability to stand, bend, and reach to maintain files, sit for extended periods of time.
  •  Must be able to work assigned schedule with minimal absences.
