The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and processing outgoing shipments in a composite manufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring shipments are packaged, documented, and dispatched accurately and efficiently. The Shipping Clerk works closely with internal teams and carriers to meet delivery commitments and maintain high standards of customer satisfaction. This position is designed as an entry point into shipping operations with the opportunity to advance into a Shipping and Receiving Clerk role.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and process outgoing shipments according to customer specifications and company procedures.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation for all shipments.
- Coordinate with carriers and schedule pickups as needed.
- Track outgoing shipments and update status in the warehouse management system.
- Communicate with internal departments and customers regarding shipment status and any issues.
- Greet and assist delivery drivers arriving for pickups.
- Keep the shipping work area safe, clean, and free from hazards; promptly report safety concerns.
- Assist with other warehouse tasks as assigned, including picking, packing, and staging materials for shipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & TRAINING
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSE).
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
- Forklift certification preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, or a similar role a plus.
- Familiarity with shipping regulations and procedures is a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequently required to reach and use hands and arms continuously.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Must maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
