Position Summary:
As the Product Management Intern – Pressure & Force, you will support the product team in driving research, documentation, and cross-functional execution for key growth initiatives across pressure gauges, switches, transmitters, and load cells used in HVAC and general industrial markets.
This internship is designed for a curious, analytical, and detail-oriented student who wants hands-on experience in product discovery, go-to-market readiness, and product data management. You will partner closely with product management, marketing, and channel stakeholders to support product attribute enhancements, competitive research, voice-of-customer (VOC) insights, and sales enablement content.
You’ll also contribute to product strategy workstreams including market adjacency research and portfolio rationalization while gaining exposure to the full product lifecycle in a fast-paced, continuous improvement environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Execute market research focused on adjacent opportunities specifically water and wastewater mapping product intersections and identifying gaps we could fill organically.
- Conduct VOC research to understand product needs/requirements by application and vertical market; synthesize findings into clear insights and next steps.
- Perform competitive research and data mining, including product comparisons, positioning inputs, and market trend tracking.
- Develop and update product content and sales support materials, including battle cards, competitive cross-sheets, one-pagers, FAQs, and training content ensuring assets align with product needs and digital channel standards.
- Support acquisition integration activities through the addition of new product series and SKUs to ecommerce and channel teams, including product and data attribute enhancements.
- Assist with PIM/data attribute cleanup and governance, helping improve the quality and completeness of product information and supporting literature alignment.
- Support product rationalization projects by contributing to make vs. buy analysis, gathering internal inputs, and documenting comparisons and recommendations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, sales/channel, operations) to support project execution, timelines, and deliverables.
- Support ad hoc projects that help move the business forward.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Project Delivery & Execution: Completes assigned project deliverables on time (e.g., rollout content, competitive tools, VOC summaries, research outputs) with strong quality and attention to detail.
- Customer & Market Insights: Generates actionable VOC and market research insights that inform product decisions, consolidation strategy, and adjacency opportunity mapping.
- Data & Attribute Quality: Improves completeness/accuracy of product attributes and supporting content, enabling better digital presentation and internal alignment.
- Content & Enablement Impact: Produces clear, accurate sales enablement materials (battle cards, cross-sheets, training content) that are usable by channel teams and aligned to product strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrates strong stakeholder communication and coordination, keeping workstreams aligned and progress visible.
Essential/Preferred Skills:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year degree program (Junior/Senior standing preferred) in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Math, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills; ability to synthesize information into clear recommendations and messaging.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create polished materials for business audiences.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; able to multitask effectively and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience or familiarity with PowerBI, Jira, Wrike, Akeneo, and/or Seismic preferred (training/mentorship provided as needed).
- Ability to work in a remote/hybrid environment (internship is expected to run approximately 3 months, with structure dependent on intern location).
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Work is mainly performed in a manufacturing environment and may require periods of standing, sitting, and use of microscope for soldering tasks.
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, grease, and varying temperatures (including heat and cold depending on the area of the facility).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly and occasionally more with assistance.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools, small parts, and precision instruments.
- Visual acuity to read schematics, gauges, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic devices.
- Must be able to respond quickly to equipment issues in a fast-paced environment.
