The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager position is an integral part of the Food and Beverage Team. You will act as a liaison between the Front of House, Back of House, and our Membership. Our Ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a firm but approachable demeanor, a history of training effective service teams, budgetary efficiency, and attention to detail. We are a year-round operation with substantial usage increases during the summer and Holiday seasons. With that in mind our candidate will be responsible for multiple service locations to include al a carte dining, events, and poolside service. As a private club our expectations of product knowledge is maintained at a high level with rotating liquor, wine, beer, and food options. When not acting as a Manager this position will allow for the candidate to act as a server and will be eligible as a tipped employee.
- Ensures scheduling of personnel and plans dining room setup based upon anticipated guest counts and client needs.
- Takes reservations, checks table reservation schedules, and maintains reservations log.
- Greets and seats members and guests.
- Supervises dining room, and bar staff to help assure proper service; takes orders when necessary. Assists Banquet Captain as necessary.
- Inspects dining room employees to ensure that they are always in proper and clean uniforms.
- My assist in interviews, trains, supervises, and evaluates dining room bar, and support staff.
- Provides appropriate reports concerning employee hours, schedules, pay rates, job changes, tip pools, etc.
- Receives and resolves complaints concerning food, beverages and service.
- Serves as liaison between the dining room and kitchen staff.
- Assures that all side-work is accomplished and that all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule.
- Directs pre-meal meetings with dining room personnel; relays information and policy changes and briefs personnel.
- Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment and fixtures; checks the maintenance of all equipment in the dining room and reports deficiencies and maintenance concerns.
- Makes suggestions about improvements in dining room service procedures and layout.
- Produces daily or meal-period revenue analyses and other reports from point of sale systems used in the dining room.
- Assures that the dining room and other club areas are secure at the end of the business day.
- Insures all dining rooms and event spaces are set for the next shifts business.
- Develops and maintains the dining room reservation system.
- Develops and implements an on-going marketing program to increase dining room business.
- Develops and supervises the revenue control system.
- Monitors dining room labor and supplies budget; makes adjustments to achieve financial goals.
- Develops and continually updates and refines policy and procedure manuals for service staff to increase quality and to control costs.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings.
- Confirms that all dining room closing procedures have been completed and assures that area is secure.
- Designs floor plans in accordance with reservations.
- Receives and inspects food and beverage deliveries.
- May serve as club’s opening and closing manager or manager on duty.
- Assures that local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Performs other appropriate assignments and projects as required by the food and beverage director.
- Contributes to the Food and Beverage Management Team by planning, executing and educating our staff on new events, SOP's, and day to day activities.
