Position Overview

At Hotel Californian, we are committed to delivering an exceptional luxury guest experience rooted in impeccable presentation, attention to detail, and a sense of place. The Overnight Cleaner plays a critical role in ensuring the property is pristine, refreshed, and fully prepared for the next day’s operations.

This position is responsible for deep cleaning and maintaining all public areas, back-of-house spaces, and select guest areas during overnight hours, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and brand presentation are consistently upheld.

Key Responsibilities

Property Cleanliness & Presentation

• Perform overnight deep cleaning of all public areas, including lobbies, corridors, restrooms, elevators, and meeting spaces 
• Ensure all surfaces, fixtures, and flooring are cleaned, polished, and maintained to luxury hospitality standards 
• Maintain cleanliness of back-of-house areas, including offices, locker rooms, and service corridors 
• Execute floor care duties including vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and polishing 

Operational Readiness

• Prepare the property for morning operations, ensuring all areas are guest-ready prior to opening hours 
• Restock cleaning supplies, paper products, and guest amenities in public areas 
• Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damage promptly 

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment 
• Adhere to company policies and OSHA standards to maintain a safe working environment 
• Maintain security awareness while working overnight and report any unusual activity 

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Housekeeping and Engineering teams to ensure seamless overnight operations 
• Communicate effectively through logs and handoff notes for morning teams 
• Support additional cleaning or special projects as assigned 

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience in hospitality preferred, luxury environment a plus 
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to excellence 
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during overnight hours 
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment 
• Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds for extended periods 
• Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks and operate equipment 
• Comfortable working overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays 

Schedule

• Overnight shift (typically between 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM; subject to operational needs)
