Description


Position Summary 

The Social Media Intern supports Fort Wayne Football Club’s digital presence by creating, capturing, and publishing engaging content that connects with fans and promotes the organization’s brand. This role assists with real-time coverage of matches and events at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium, as well as day-to-day social media activities. The intern is expected to contribute creative ideas, monitor engagement trends, and help enhance audience interaction across platforms. This position works under direct supervision of the Director of Communications while gaining hands-on experience in sports media and marketing. The role is ideal for a student seeking practical experience in content creation and digital communications.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Capture photo and video content at matches and club events to support real-time and future digital content needs.
  • Assist with creating, scheduling, and publishing social media posts to maintain consistent online presence.
  • Monitor social media engagement, comments, and trends to help improve content performance and audience interaction.
  • Collaborate with staff to brainstorm and execute creative content ideas that align with the club’s brand.
  • Support basic editing of photos and videos for use across digital platforms.
  • Maintain professionalism when representing the club at public events and online.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic understanding of major social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and X.
  • Strong interest in sports, marketing, and digital media.
  • Creative thinking and ability to contribute content ideas.
  • Basic photography and/or video skills (editing experience is a plus but not required).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow direction, accept feedback, and learn quickly.
  • Dependable and punctual with good time management.

Experience and Training 

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Current high school or undergraduate college student.
  • No prior professional experience required; relevant coursework, extracurricular activities, or personal social media experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in content creation, sports media, or marketing.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods during games and events.
  • Occasional lifting of light equipment (e.g., camera gear, under 20 lbs).
  • Ability to operate a smartphone, camera, and computer for content creation and posting.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of outdoor (stadium) and indoor (office) work environments.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor events.
  • Evening and weekend hours required based on match schedule.

Job Dimensions 

  • Works closely with marketing staff, coaches, and game day personnel.
