What You’ll Do
The Residential Controller is responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting functions for a large portfolio of residential properties, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial records. As a Residential Accounting Controller you will lead a team of 10-15 accounting professionals. Drive the development and execution of key financial processes, controls, and systems. This role serves as a critical liaison between senior management, clients, and internal teams, aligning accounting practices with business objectives, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Your day-to-day may include:
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings for a large portfolio of multi-family properties, ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and applicable regulations
- Lead and manage the residential accounting team, including recruitment, training, mentoring, and performance management. Cultivate a high-performance culture focused on results and exceptional client service
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership and clients, highlighting key performance metrics, variances, trends, and actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making
- Lead special projects, including financial analysis, process improvements, and strategic initiatives, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary to support the organization’s needs, including ad-hoc financial reporting, analysis, and business initiatives
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required from an accredited four-year university (MBA or Master’s preferred)
- CPA or similar professional designation preferred
- Minimum 8 years of experience with practical experience in Real Estate accounting and/or Property Management
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role overseeing a team and managing client relationships
- Experience with Yardi is required
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate complex accounting and financial data.
- Strong technical expertise in property accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills and strong attention to detail

The expected compensation range for this position is $135,000.00- $150,000.00, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
