We are Bend Transitional Care of Cascadia Healthcare, a 60-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Bend, Oregon that provides transitional, post-hospital care for people who need extra medical support before returning home or moving to longer-term care. We’re looking for a Part Time Maintenance Assistant to join our team.

Essential Functions

  • Performs routine maintenance and repair required to keep the building and equipment in good working order.
  • Monitors building and equipment renovations, remodeling or replacement projects done by contractors.
  • Under supervision, maintains and repairs HVAC, refrigerators, boilers, washers and dryers, and other equipment.
  • Manages small painting, redecorating, carpentry, concrete and masonry projects. Requests need for contractor assistance for large-scale projects.
  • Conducts and documents routine inspection of fire control equipment and sprinkler systems.
  • Maintains weekly facility log of domestic hot water temperature, generator checklist, monthly fire alarm system testing and sprinkler pressure, for survey and safety compliance.
  • Coordinates and documents monthly fire drills.
  • Regularly inspects building and grounds, and reports identified areas for maintenance to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Cuts grass, trims shrubs, and takes other appropriate action.
  • Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.
  • Perform custodial responsibilities, including the operation of floor care and cleaning equipment.
  • Assist with infection control protocols and support efficient room turnovers.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned to support facility operations. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of building codes and rules and regulation regarding the operation of plant equipment.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other safety requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to operate mowing equipment.


Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 

Licenses/Certification

  • Valid driver’s license

Experience

  • One year experience in building maintenance.
  • Six months of experience in long-term care preferred.
