The Deficiency Estimator / Inside Sales role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely estimates for repair
work deficiencies identified during routine service calls and periodic inspections of fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire
extinguishers, kitchen hoods, and related systems. This position plays a critical role in supporting customer
satisfaction and profit growth by delivering clear, actionable proposals and coordinating with internal teams and
clients.
The Deficiency Estimator reports to the Sales Director, with daily directions from the Senior Sales Executive. The
role is an office position with typical hours of 8:00AM – 5:00PM, or as directed by the Sales Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review inspection reports, work order notes, and customer requests to identify deficiencies across all serviced systems.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for repairs using company estimating tools and industry knowledge.
- Source and price parts from approved vendors, coordinating availability and compatibility
- Generate and deliver timely proposals to customers for corrective work.
- Document proposed solutions and communicate effectively with customers and the outside sales team.
- Collaborate with service operations, sales, and customers to ensure smooth scheduling and execution of
- approved work.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and communications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements in all proposals.
- Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and margin goals.
- Be available after hours to represent FireTron in associations and trade show, as needed.
- Input and track relevant information in company CRM.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in fire protection construction estimating, or related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems, NFPA standards, and local codes.
- Previous Sales Experience, Minimum of 2 years, inside or outside sales experience preferred
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to interpret inspection reports and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with repair processes, material compatibility, and equipment needs.
- Strong math skills related to cost estimating and understanding effects on repair system calculations (i.e.
- flow calculations, electrical calculations, etc.) Communication Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer and internal coordination.
- Ability to explain technical solutions clearly and professionally.
