Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $82,500 - $152,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RTL Networks considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Summary: The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive technical and engineering support across all stages of system development, testing, integration, certification, and maintenance for naval combat and weapon control systems. This role supports concept definition, requirements development and management, system architecture, system and subsystem design, interface management, and technical documentation. The Systems Engineer is also engaged in problem-solving, technology integration, and ensuring robust system performance in accordance with Navy and DoD standards.
Primary Responsibilities: Essential skills, knowledge and responsibilities of the Systems Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Engage in requirements analysis, functional decomposition, and technical solution development for complex maritime, launcher, missile, and control systems.
- Conduct trade studies, technical risk assessments, performance analyses, and interface and interoperability testing.
- Generate and refine system designs (hardware/software), models, architecture documents, and detailed technical data to resolve design and operational deficiencies.
- Participate in technical boards (e.g., Technical Review Boards, Change Control Boards) and Integrated Product Teams, providing engineering insight, documentation, and review.
- Ensure traceability of requirements through all engineering stages, supporting certification and compliance efforts (e.g., Model-Based Systems Engineering, MBSE).
- Prepare system performance specifications, interface control documents, integration studies, and support system and software integration events.
- Review and evaluate proposed system changes for impact, compliance, and documentation.
- Contribute to technology refresh, emerging requirements planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support fleet and fielded system troubleshooting, sustainment, and deployment activities.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in system engineering principles for DoD/Navy programs.
- Experience with system architecture, system integration, modeling/simulation, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of operational requirements, trade-off analysis, and interoperability standards.
- Familiarity with Navy/DoD system certification and configuration practices.
- Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) criteria or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification at time of hire (i.e., Security+).
Physical Demands:
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
· Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
· Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for clearance at this location.
