Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day HR functions for a designated business unit, with a strong focus on employee relations, operational support, and alignment with business objectives. This role partners closely with the Business Unit Leader and/or Operations Manager to drive a positive employee experience, ensure compliance, and support organizational performance.
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Director, HRBP
- Works closely with Operations, Business Unit Leadership, and other internal departments
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers within the assigned business unit
- Provide guidance and resolution on employee relations issues, including performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant work environment
- Support employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies
Business Partnership
- Act as a strategic partner to the Business Unit Leader and/or Operations Manager
- Align HR practices with business goals and operational needs
- Provide coaching to leaders on people management, team development, and organizational effectiveness
- Support workforce planning and organizational design
HR Operations
- Partner with HR Ops Specialist on day-to-day HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews, and policy administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
- Partner with HR shared services (if applicable) on payroll, benefits, and recruiting processes
Performance & Talent Management
- Support performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and corrective actions
- Identify talent gaps and partner on development plans
- Assist in succession planning and leadership development initiatives
Policy & Compliance
- Enforce company policies and procedures
- Conduct investigations as needed and ensure proper documentation
- Stay current on employment law and HR best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with strong employee relations background
- Experience supporting a specific business unit, site, or operational team preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to influence and build relationships with leaders and employees at all levels
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred
