Description

 

The Regional Maintenance Manager is responsible for full oversight of fleet maintenance operations across Nevada locations, including Las Vegas and Reno. This role has direct authority over all maintenance personnel and is responsible for assigning all work orders across yards, managing mechanic schedules, and overseeing timekeeping and payroll accuracy.


This position is accountable for ensuring all maintenance staff are properly onboarded, trained, and consistently completing required work orders, documentation, and reporting accurately and timely. The Regional Maintenance Manager has full responsibility for hiring, discipline, and termination of maintenance personnel.


The Regional Maintenance Manager owns and is accountable for key operational performance metrics, including but not limited to fleet uptime/availability, repair turnaround time, labor efficiency, and reduction of repeat repairs (“comebacks”). This role is expected to proactively identify issues, implement corrective actions, and continuously improve maintenance performance across the region.


This position also serves as the lead diagnostic authority for the region, providing advanced technical guidance and acting as the final escalation point for complex repairs.


Additionally, the Regional Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, including managing and preparing for inspections conducted by state and federal authorities (including DOT and applicable Nevada agencies), and ensuring the fleet consistently meets all safety and compliance standards.

The Regional Maintenance Manager works closely with the Regional Fleet & Facilities Manager, who is responsible for parts procurement and third-party repair coordination, ensuring alignment between internal maintenance operations and external support.

Requirements

 

1. Full Maintenance Operations Ownership

  • Oversee all maintenance operations across Nevada (Las Vegas and Reno) with full accountability for fleet readiness and uptime
  • Assign, prioritize, and manage all work orders across yards to ensure timely and efficient completion
  • Maintain real-time visibility of fleet status (UP/DOWN) and proactively address downtime drivers
  • Ensure consistency in maintenance standards, processes, and execution across all locations

2. Workforce Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Hire, onboard, train, discipline, and terminate maintenance personnel
  • Assign and manage mechanic schedules, ensuring proper coverage and productivity
  • Oversee timekeeping, payroll accuracy, and approval of hours worked
  • Enforce accountability for performance, productivity, and quality of work
  • Ensure all mechanics complete required documentation, work orders, and reporting accurately and timely

3. KPI Ownership & Performance Management

  • Own and drive key performance metrics, including:
    • Fleet uptime / availability
    • Repair turnaround time
    • Labor efficiency and productivity
    • Reduction in repeat repairs (“comebacks”)
  • Identify trends, inefficiencies, and recurring failures and implement corrective actions
  • Continuously improve maintenance operations to reduce cost, increase reliability, and maximize asset utilization

4. Technical Leadership & Diagnostics

  • Serve as the lead diagnostician and final escalation point for complex mechanical and electrical issues
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to mechanics on advanced troubleshooting
  • Standardize diagnostic procedures and repair methodologies
  • Ensure high-quality repairs that minimize repeat issues and downtime

5. Work Order, Systems & Process Management

  • Ensure all work orders are properly created, tracked, and closed in Fleetio
  • Maintain strict adherence to documentation standards for all repairs and maintenance activity
  • Monitor workflow to eliminate bottlenecks and improve shop efficiency
  • Ensure accurate data entry to support reporting, compliance, and operational decision-making

6. Regulatory Compliance & Inspections

  • Oversee full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including DOT and Nevada state agencies
  • Manage and prepare for all state and federal inspections
  • Ensure all vehicles meet safety and compliance standards prior to return-to-service
  • Maintain audit-ready maintenance records and documentation at all times

7. Coordination with Fleet & Facilities Manager

  • Partner with the Regional Fleet & Facilities Manager on parts sourcing and inventory needs
  • Provide input on recurring parts usage, failures, and inventory optimization
  • Coordinate third-party repairs while maintaining oversight of quality, cost, and turnaround time
  • Ensure alignment between internal maintenance operations and external vendor support

8. Reporting & Communication

  • Report on fleet performance, maintenance trends, and operational issues to leadership
  • Communicate priorities, expectations, and performance standards clearly across all locations
  • Escalate critical issues impacting operations, safety, or compliance in a timely manner

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, heavy-duty vehicle repair, or similar environment
  • 3+ years of experience managing maintenance personnel with full supervisory responsibility
  • Strong expertise in diesel engines, electrical systems, and advanced diagnostics
  • Proven ability to manage multi-location maintenance operations
  • Experience with fleet management systems (Fleetio or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT, NHP, NTA, OSHA and other regulatory compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, labor, and workflow in a high-demand environment

Preferred

  • ASE certifications or equivalent advanced technical credentials
  • Experience in school bus, transit, or large commercial fleet operations
  • Prior experience with regulatory inspections and audit management
  • Experience working in a KPI-driven, performance-managed environment
  • CDL Class A or B license

Salary Description
$120,000-$150,000 (with Bonuses)
