Providence Hospice is a division of Providence Life Services, which provides a continuum of healthcare, focused on senior living. Providence Hospice is looking for a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Full Time in Homer Glen, IL. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8AM-4:30PM. Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and be able to travel to Illinois and Indiana. Mileage reimbursement is included for this position at $ .725/mile. Salary is exempt.

Summary of job responsibilities (not inclusive of all responsibilities)

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the hospice volunteer program.
  • Regularly communicate with and/or meet with volunteers.
  • Schedule volunteer hours, and work assignments in coordination with program supervisors
  • Maintain patient care volunteer and administrative/clerical volunteer statistics.
  • Provides monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Supports the mission of the organization; enhance the lives of those we serve in the name of Jesus Christ.
  • Reports accidents and/or incidents to the administrator.
  • Responds and reviews grievances and complaints.
  • Participates in planning the department’s budget.
  • Schedules and organizes volunteer activities and events including appreciation lunches, parties, etc.
  • Recruits, selects and trains new volunteers.
  • Oversees the onboarding of new volunteers.
  • Oversees annual compliance for the volunteer program.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positivity as well as a calm environment.
  • Attend and participate in IDT meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ensure volunteers follow policies and procedures.
  • Travel to Illinois and/or Indiana office and to patient’s homes.
Requirements
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working for a hospice organization.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation and be able to travel to Illinois and Indiana.
  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, some college preferred.
  • Must pass a physical, drug screen, 50-pound lift test, fingerprinting for criminal background check and complete a reference check.
