- Interns typically start employment mid-May and complete their internship in July/August
Summary of the Position: The Engineering Intern reports to the Manufacturing Engineers and is responsible to follow written and/or verbal instruction issued by the his/her direct report.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Improve Productivity in different Production Processes.
· Workload balance in workstations
· Assist with other scrap reduction and quality improvement projects as needed.
· Learn the process of validating and how to document an existing process
· Learn how to conduct time studies
· Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing Techniques
· Learn to apply SPC (Statistical Process Control)
· Participate in production and brainstorming sessions
· Review specifications of new equipment, learning how they work
· Learn mechanical functions of existing plant machinery
· Assist in procuring and integrating processing equipment
· Help train operators on how to use newly integrated equipment
· Assist maintenance team in generating spare parts inventory and planned maintenance (PM) schedules
· Help design optimal plant layouts using AutoCAD
· Perform other assigned duties and follow verbal and written instructions issued by supervisor or designee related to meeting company goals and objectives.
· Communicate effectively with your team, supervision and other departments within the organization and function within a team, promoting positive work environment
· Regular attendance is required.
Minimum Requirements:
· Computer proficient (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
· An in-process bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering field.
· An interest in the Continuous Improvement/Engineering process as it relates to manufacturing.
