Job Summary:
The Construction Manager I is responsible for overseeing and coordinating wind energy construction projects to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution. This role involves leading and managing teams, planning and allocating resources, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, including front-line leadership and customers. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and organizational abilities to manage daily operations, monitor project progress, and address any challenges that arise. The Construction Manager must work collaboratively across various roles, maintain compliance with safety standards, and support the successful delivery of projects in a dynamic, field-based environment.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
- Manage all execution aspects of varied wind turbine services and maintenance projects including allocation of equipment, material, and personnel resources
- Lead, train, mentor, and manage teams of technicians and ensure work is to specifications
- Collaborate onsite with teams to oversee project execution and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Engage with front-line leaders to coordinate resources, resolve issues, and maintain seamless project workflows.
- Plan workload activities and schedules for the next 1 to 3 months.
- Communicate daily with customers, delivering End of Day (EOD) and Plan of Day (POD) reports.
- Monitor progress and ensure project goals and quality standards are met.
- Write and deliver performance reviews for technicians in the field
- Complete on-site field engagements to evaluate field processes and drive change as necessary
- Monitor weekly timesheets for field technicians
- Monitor the flow of documents and communication to ensure completion, timeliness, and delivery to the appropriate parties
- Create procedures, works plans, and technical references
- Perform special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in wind energy or construction management
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence others, building teams and conflict resolution
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
This position is on site, often in remote or rural areas. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.
Specific requirements include:
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Work may involve heights, confined spaces, and mechanical equipment
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, crouching, and climbing during onsite inspections
- Ability to climb vertical ladders and work at heights of at least 260 feet
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
- Ability to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs or project deadlines
- Travel up to 100%
