JOB DESCRIPTION
The individual hired for this position will learn and become proficient in machining, handling, inspecting, and cleaning small optics. Optics machining technicians are responsible for operating optics finishing machines in a production environment and maintaining equipment. Handling, inspecting, cleaning, fixture loading, and spin-coating small optics. Optics inspection technicians are responsible for inspecting and coating small optics in a production environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Run CNC equipment
· Perform quality checks and adjust cutting parameters to obtain optimum machine performance
· Maintain equipment
· Perform Product Inspections
· Meet production schedules
· Process necessary production logs and tracking
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment
· Inspect optical surfaces according to Mil-Spec standards
· Clean, handle, and load optical substrates into coating fixtures
· Use optical inspection equipment such as eye loupe and microscope
· Assist with cleaning and inspection of optics in other departments as needed
· Mix coating solutions and deposit spin-coatings onto optics
· Work with others to meet production schedules
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· >2 years machining experience or equivalent technical training
· Machine operation and maintenance
· Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
· Highly motivated and able to work independently
· Strong attention to detail
· Ability to solve basic math problems
· Ability to maintain precision tolerances
· Use of measuring devices and inspection equipment
· Optical inspection experience is a plus
