Description
Full-Time (40 hours) - day shift
Supports the medical imaging department by assisting technologists and ensuring a smooth workflow. The assistant performs various tasks such as verifying patient information, communicating with medical staff, and transporting patients. They must maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while delivering exceptional patient care.
Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):
- Verifies patient identification and physician’s orders in the CPSI information system before ordering procedures
- Notify physicians / other providers
- Greets and receives patients and hospital guests professionally and courteously
- Communicates pre-procedural/prep information to patients and MD office staff
- Safely transport patients to and from various areas, including the emergency department (ED), progressive care unit (PCU), waiting area, and imaging area. Escorts patients to exam modality when necessary. Adhere to established protocols and maintain patient comfort and safety throughout the process
- Distributes image copies (CD or Powershare) as necessary, verifying identification and obtaining signatures for release while maintaining patient confidentiality
- Monitors patient waiting and imaging area for cleanliness and neatness.
Requirements
Education/Qualification/Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Medical terminology preferred with prior experience in a healthcare setting
- Requires exceptional customer service and organizational skills
- Significant computer experience required
- Working knowledge of hospital scheduling system (CPSI-EWS) preferred
- Customer Service experience is required
- Basic Life Support (CPR)
