Location: Onsite - SMG Corporate Office
Hours: Monday -Thursday, 8:30a to 4p (30 hours a week)
Duration: 5/18/2026 or 5/26/2026 until 8/7/2026
Position Summary
The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team in daily administrative tasks and ongoing HR initiatives. This internship provides hands-on experience in recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, compliance, and HR operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in developing a career in Human Resources.
Overview of Job Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Assist with posting positions in Paylocity
- Source candidates via LinkedIn
- Scheduled phone screens and manager interviews
- Support recruitment tracking and reporting
- Manage SMG LI page and respond to candidates inquiring about positions
- Complete reference checks on potential SMG hires
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Assist with onboarding documentation and new hire orientation preparation
- PPE/Equipment Mailing
- Ordering New Hire Laptops
- Starting the BGC and/or Substance Abuse Screening
- Help maintain employee files and ensure documentation compliance
- Creating New Hire folders
- Moving new hires resume from Recruiting to their HR folder
- Support employee engagement initiatives and HR events
- Kick starts the Monthly Birthday Pizza Luncheon
HR Administration
- Maintain and update HR databases and personnel records
- Update HR Demographic sheet
- Assist with benefits enrollment and employee inquiries
- Help draft HR communications and internal announcements
Compliance & Policy Support
- Assist with auditing personnel files for compliance
- Support policy updates and handbook revisions
- Research HR best practices and employment law updates
Special Projects
- Participate in HR projects related to training, DEI initiatives, retention strategies, or performance management
- Analyze HR data and assist in preparing reports
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to work onsite from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous internship or administrative experience
- Familiarity with HRIS systems
- Interest in pursuing HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR)
