CDL Driver
Description

Total Warehouse is looking for a Driver that operates commercial vehicles in compliance with DOT/CDL regulations, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, securing and transporting equipment, and completing delivery documentation. Experienced with flatbed and lowboy trailers, extra-legal loads, and working in all weather conditions, with strong communication and recordkeeping skills.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete digital DVIRs to ensure vehicle safety and compliance. 
  • Safely maneuver trucks and trailers into loading/unloading positions, assisting with loading and securing equipment using industry-standard methods.
  • Operate commercial vehicles while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations, including handling extra-legal loads and reading permits.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and driving hours, reporting discrepancies promptly to dispatch/management.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and on-site contacts via phone, text, or email.
  • Work in all weather, including extended out of town work, with driver being away from home for one or more consecutive nights at a time may be required.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues to management as needed.
  • Ensuring loads are of legal dimensions and the ability to read and understand permits when transporting extra-legal loads, remaining aware of any obstacles or detours that may place the vehicle or load in jeopardy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of BOLs, delivery tickets, etc via multiple methods (paper, and digital)

Education and Experience:

  • Must possess a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a valid Medical Exam Certificate
  • (Medical Card) and a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) dated within the last 60 days.
  • Minimum of 3 years of driving experience with flatbeds, RGN/lowboy, and dovetail trailers, including proficiency in both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Experience in loading, off-loading, securing, and transporting forklifts and similar equipment is required; forklift operation experience is a plus Candidates must pass pre-employment background and drug testing, with ongoing random and post-incident testing as mandated by federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections, complete timely deliveries, and adhere to applicable DOT and CDL regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting in a commercial truck cab for extended periods of time 
  • Lifting, crawling, pulling, constant use of hands, significant bending and reaching, climbing, significant physical strength and stamina 
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds  
  • Drivers will be subjected to work outside, day & night, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme heat and cold. 
  • While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, bright, multi-colored and/or flashing lights, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris
