Who We Are


Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

Who You Are


You have 3-5 years of direct experience in metallurgy and/or assay laboratory and the use of support equipment. You have strong interpersonal skills and can work in conjunction with the leadership team to oversee department wide metallurgical needs. You are an effective team member who assists in day-to-day laboratory operations. You can develop and implement safe working practices and procedures and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. 


This is a safety sensitive position. As the Assay Laboratory Metallurgical Technician, you report to the Assay Laboratory Supervisor. 


What You Do


  • Conducting field audits to ensure that all test work is being done according to SOPs. 
  • Monitoring all metallurgical test work at all stages of the process. 
  • Performing routine inspections of the operating areas to ensure safe work areas. 
  • Developing and implementing plans for metallurgical testing. 
  • Developing best practices, tools and instrumentation for project execution.
  • Coordinating and implementing Company procedures and policies.
  • Coordinating and presenting ideas on investigative test work regarding recovery and leachability. 
  • Assisting with regular Assay Laboratory Production as needed.
  • Training current senior level employees on metallurgical procedures. 
  • Training and coaching senior level technicians on metallurgical laboratory procedures. 
  • Relieving the Laboratory Supervisor in Assay Laboratory Training Coordinator’s absence.
  • Working closely with the Assay Lab Department Supervisor and Chief Metallurgist. 
  • Working closely with Chief Metallurgist, Geology Team, Laboratory Supervisor and any other Department Management to identify any investigative metallurgical test work or follow-up testing needed regarding recovery and leachability parameters and requirements. 
  • Working closely with Chief Metallurgist, Assay Laboratory Supervisor, Technicians, Maintenance, Electrical and EHS to ensure best practices and safety are at the forefront of all conducted test work.
  • Working closely with Chief Metallurgist, Laboratory Supervisor and other Department 
  • Management to develop standard operating procedures for metallurgical testing.  
  • Performing other duties assigned.


What You Bring


  • In House: Must be a current Assay Laboratory Technician at 4.1 or above to be considered for in-house transfer.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in metallurgy, assaying, and/or mining. 
  • General knowledge and ability to conduct proper metallurgical testing 
  • Administrative experience in writing reports and implementing SOP’s. 
  • Self-starter with a self-motivating attitude. 
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively and remain organized. 
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Strong experience with computer the Microsoft Office Suite (ex: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook).
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR (a plus).
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language. 
  • Driver’s License required.
