Job Purpose:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for following Company safety procedures, policies, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to assist with all maintenance and facilities operations, to include preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, new equipment installation, equipment process improvements, and organization and cleaning of maintenance areas. This role is designed as a developmental position to build hands-on maintenance skills in a brewery environment.
Duties and responsibilities:

- Assist in maintaining the efficient operation of all brewery equipment, to include steam boilers, chillers, compressors, industrial refrigeration, HVAC, wastewater treatment systems, and all production equipment.
- Assist in identifying critical equipment and spare parts and support systems that optimize equipment reliability, including parts ordering, inventory management, and rebuild programs.
- Assist with routine and preventive maintenance programs for all brewery equipment and utility systems while minimizing production down time costs.
- Perform necessary equipment repairs in a timely manner to minimize production down time and costs.
- Work with outside contractors and vendors to coordinate new equipment installation, startup, commissioning, operator training, and equipment repair.
- Follow and support safety procedures for all maintenance operations, including lockout/tagout, confined space procedures, fall protection, etc.
- Assist with safety training and reporting for operator use and repair of all mechanical and electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Support the training of brewery employees on the use, troubleshooting, and maintenance of new equipment and systems.
- Communicate with all departments, as related to maintenance and repair needs and training.
- Assist in the coordination with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure facility compliance with all regulations and reporting requirements.
- Perform facilities maintenance and repairs as directed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workplace in maintenance areas.
- Develop and maintain 5S systems within all maintenance areas to create and sustained an organized work environment.
- Responsible for the organization and storage of all maintenance equipment, including proper labeling, cleaning, and upkeep.
- Assist with work orders, parts inventory, preventative maintenance, and other maintenance functions using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Will work with supervisors and managers to improve upon and implement new and revised process SOPs.
- Ensure excellent customer service for all areas including brewing, packaging, operations, and administrative functions. This includes clear and organized communication and effective relationships.
- Assist in researching and implementing new methodologies such as maintenance tracking systems and other principles for continuous process improvement.
- Participate in continuing education related to maintenance operations, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Follow Company safety procedures, policies, and SOPs.
Qualifications:

- Basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, and troubleshooting skills, with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Basic familiarity with or willingness to learn about boilers, chillers, compressors, industrial refrigeration, brewery process control and utility systems.
- A basic understanding of electronics, instrumentation, and programmable logic controllers in industrial applications.
- The ability to read and interpret, drawings, PID’s, plans and schematics, operating manuals, and repair manuals.
- The ability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Forklift and hand truck certified or willing to become certified.
- Computer proficiency and familiarity with MS Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with staff, customers, and vendors.
- Well organized with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Must have the ability to work with tools and heavy equipment.
- Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
