Description

The Role:


We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Core Lab Manager to support and help oversee operations within the Cellular Unit of the Integrated Research and Technology Core. This role is critical to maintaining high-quality service, ensuring continuity of operations, and supporting a diverse group of investigators through both technical expertise and scientific collaboration.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the operation of advanced instrumentation, development and optimization of assays, and support of experimental design, while contributing to the coordination of Core activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently operate, maintain, and troubleshoot flow cytometry instrumentation, including analyzers and cell sorters
  • Oversee day-to-day activities within the Cellular Unit, ensuring efficient and reliable operation of Core services
  • Provide hands-on support to investigators, including experimental design, assay development, and data interpretation
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot assays (e.g., flow cytometry panels, multiplex assays such as Luminex)
  • Train and support users on proper instrument use and best practices
  • Ensure proper instrument usage to minimize downtime and maintain data quality
  • Contribute to coordination and oversight of Core operations, including scheduling, workflow optimization, and user support
  • Maintain accurate documentation of protocols, instrument performance, and standard operating procedures

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Master’s degree in immunology, cell biology, or a related field (PhD preferred but not required)
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in flow cytometry, including multicolor panel design and data analysis
  • Experience working in a shared resource/core facility environment strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with assay development and troubleshooting
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with investigators at different levels

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cell sorting and high-parameter flow cytometry
  • Familiarity with Luminex or other multiplex platforms
  • Experience training users and developing SOPs
  • Ability to take on increasing responsibility in coordination and oversight of Core activities
