Description

The primary responsibility of the Quality Control Technician is to validate and document first piece, restart, and critical in-process inspections to ensure product conformance during production. This role must follow inspection QCIs (Quality Control Instructions) and document results as required by the control plan on forms, blueprints, or check sheets. This position also performs daily activities to ensure gauging equipment is set up correctly and assists with non-conforming material handling and sorting and any other duties as requested by the Quality Control Lead in their area. 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Inspects or validates results for first machined piece set up and restart parts using information on the blueprints and QCIs; will document all data on the print and first piece forms and must be able to make the decision to run the job based on the inspection results
  • Responsible for communicating to a machine operator and supervisor a defect or unusual condition requiring investigation or corrective action in the form of machine shutdown, adjustments, part sorting, etc
  • Document first piece inspection results directly on the blueprint provided in the routing package
  • Conduct defined in-process and shift-based inspections per control plan requirements
  • Cover at least two machining operation areas (e.g., pistons and inputs or rotaries and sectors)
  • Record inspection results using official QCI documentation and follow escalation protocols for nonconformances
  • Support red tag process by identifying, tagging, and segregating suspect product pending disposition
  • Perform CMM calibration routines at the start of the shift and after any changeovers
  • Use hand tools, air gauging, CMMs, and RAM Optical devices as required by control plans
  • Participate in MSA and capability studies as directed by Quality Engineering or Quality Control Lead
  • Complete run charts, control charts, etc. as required by the control plan in the designated area
  • Be trained and competent on all inspection methods and measurement tools specified in the control plan including CMM, RAM optical, bore gauge, snap gauge, O.D. (Outside Diameter) and depth micrometers, scale dial vernier, height vernier, dial and digital indicators, radius gauges, protractor, thread gauge, plug gauge, surface plates, special checking fixtures, and various gauging specific to our product lines
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position does not require any supervisory duties.

  

SCHEDULE:

  • 8-hour Day Shift Monday through Friday

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED or 3 years of related work experience in manufacturing setting
  • Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics, i.e. decimals, fractions, algebra, and geometry 
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and geometric tolerancing or ability to learn this skill within first month of employment   
  • Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job assignments; cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility

$25-27 depending on experience
