The House Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of public areas, back-of-house spaces, and guest corridors to ensure a welcoming and comfortable environment. This role supports the housekeeping team by delivering supplies, removing trash and linens, and responding promptly to guest and staff requests. The House Attendant also assists with deep cleaning projects and helps ensure that safety and sanitation standards are consistently met. Strong attention to detail, efficiency, and commitment to excellent guest service are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Clean public areas of the resort, including guest corridors, elevator landings and stairwells
- Transport dirty linen from guest rooms and landing to laundry chute
- Stock linen rooms and storage areas with clean linen and in-room amenities
- Pick up and deliver guest request items
- Give assistance to Room Attendants in moving heavy objects in room
- Distribute firewood to cottages and fire pits around property
- Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
- Empty trash containers and recycling bin in public areas
- Remove all dirty terry and replace with clean par to designated layout
- Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains; report any damages to maintenance
- Update status of rooms cleaned on assignment sheet
- Return and restock cart at end of shift as well as empty vacuum bag and wipe vacuum clean
- Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys and turn over any lost and found items from guest rooms to your supervisor
- Handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
- Report any damages or maintenance problems to your supervisor
- Knowledgeable of hotel fire and emergency procedures
- Adhere to Lost and Found policy including key control
- Successful completion of the training process
- Other essential room cleaning duties as operations change in the future
- Make up cribs and rollaway beds
- Stock cleaning supply closets
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by Southall Leadership
- 1-2 years prior experience in cleaning hotel guest rooms preferred
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers, and management to their understanding
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness; and work with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to exert physical effort consistent with cleaning an industry standard number of rooms per shift (approximately 14-16 standard rooms)
- Punctuality and regular/reliable attendance
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling
- Ability to deal with guest and team member concerns in a friendly and positive manner
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to understand and communicate with guests and team members; must have excellent telephone etiquette skills
- Available to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays
- Must be able to walk, stand for prolonged periods as needed
- High School graduate or equivalent vocational training
