plays a key role in our journey to innovate solutions that solve real problems for our clients.

To be successful at Medecision, the API Engineer III will understand what a customer-centric organization entails

and be able to infuse that ideology in their contributions. On a given day, you will design, build, and maintain

customer-, partner-, and AI agent-facing APIs and backend services that power Medecision’s platform workflows

and partner integrations, including FHIR-based data exchange, helping our clients improve health outcomes for

the millions of members they serve

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and version APIs with a strong focus on contracts, backward compatibility, and lifecycle

management

• Build and maintain FHIR-based integrations, including resource transformation, validation, and workflow

orchestration

• Implement business logic, service-layer rules, and integration patterns for internal and external APIs

• Develop APIs that enable secure interactions between AI agents and platform workflows

• Manage API gateway configuration, security policies, and developer documentation

• Own automated API testing, including contract and regression tests

• Collaborate with Tech Leads and cross-functional teams on architecture, performance, and production support

• Complete other duties as assigned

• Support Medecision’s mission to deliver interoperable, whole-person care by ensuring the APIs and integrations

you build are secure, reliable, and built to scale for the clients and members who depend on them

• Minimal travel required, limited to occasional team or company events

• Follow and comply with all security policies and procedures established by the organization, including

adherence to HIPAA and HITRUST regulations

What You’ll Bring

• 4–6 years of backend engineering experience in Java and Spring Boot, with proven success delivering

production APIs and integrations

• Experience designing externally consumed APIs, including versioning and backward compatibility

• Knowledge of API security best practices: authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant data isolation

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• Familiarity with FHIR, healthcare data exchange, or interoperability frameworks

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native development

• Strong SQL and data modeling skills across relational and NoSQL databases

• Ability to independently manage and deliver medium- to high-complexity projects

• Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation skills – comfortable working with distributed

teams

• Experience with API gateways and developer portals

• Background integrating APIs with AI agents or LLM-based tools

• Healthcare payer or care management domain knowledge

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, Pub/Sub messaging, or orchestration systems

• Strong problem-solving mindset and a customer-centric approach to building scalable, secure solutions
